Fear as man’s body found floating in river Mathioya

09 October 2015, 15:09 Joseph Njung'eh

Nairobi - The body of a middle-aged man has been found dumped in river Mathioya, a few kilometers from Murang’a town.

The body which was found floating near Kiwanjugu-Gitugi road junction, was spotted by pupils on their way to school.

The shocked children screamed prompting area residents to mill at the scene before they alerted the area Chief.

The body had no physical injuries, according to area Chief Gerald Njuguna.

Njuguna said he had not received information about any person reported to have gone missing from his area.

He therefore observed that the deceased who is estimated to be aged between 45 to 50 years, might have been killed somewhere else and his body dumped in the deep river.

The incident is not the first to be witnessed in the area as several bodies have been dumped into the river previously and scores of motorists’ carjacked along the road.

Residents urged the government to beef up security and install lights near the scene so as to curb numerous criminal activities witnessed at that particular part of the road.
