Nakuru - Residents of Arash village of Subukia sub-County woke up to a rude shock after a 30-year-old man poisoned his two children.
One of the victims, a 5-year-old boy succumbed to the poisoning as his younger sister, 4, recuperates at the Nakuru provincial general hospital.
The suspect, identified as Dennis Mwangi, is alleged to have been having domestic wrangles with his wife.
Eyewitnesses say the suspect bought pesticide at a nearby shop and mixed it with water before giving it to his children.
Subukia OCPD, Alex Nag’ang’a said the body of the deceased was taken to Nyahururu sub-county mortuary.
He refuted claims by residents that mother of the children had reported threats to the police and they ignored.
“There are no records in Tetu and Subukia police station to show that the mother reported to have been threatened,” Ng’ang’a said.
Investigations has been launched to ascertain the motive behind the poisoning as well as to arrest the suspect.
