Nyeri - A 30-year-old farmhand was Thursday sentenced to 20 years imprisonment by a Nyeri court after he was found guilty of defiling his employer’s 13-year-old daughter.
John Gitau Ndirangu faced charges of touching the minor’s private parts and consequently defiling her on May 15, 2014 at Karunaini village, Tetu sub-county.
While issuing the judgment, Principal Magistrate Phillip Mutua said the evidence adduced by the prosecution witnesses proved that the girl was defiled by the convict.
The Magistrate noted that the complainant had positively identified the convict since he had been an employee in their farm for several years.

The court observed that the minor’s evidence corroborated with that of her mother who told the court that the convict worked on her farm.
However, in his defence the convict accused the minor's mother of framing him so as to avoid paying him salary arrears amounting to KES 20 000.
The magistrate however noted that when the convict was cross-examining the mother, he never inquired about the said salary arrears making the court reject his defense statements.
