Nyeri - Robert Gaita Ndonga appeared before Resident Magistrate John Aringo where he denied committing the offence.
He is accused of beating and threatening Corporal Micah Githunguri in the company of five men who did not appear before the court on October 17.
The officer told the court that he was heading home at Muruguru village after a busy day at Nyeri police station. He said at around 11.30pm while on the way he met a gang including Gaita and ordered him to stop.
They allegedly attacked and assaulted him before escaping.
The prosecution led by Inspector Rhodah Kanyi requested the court not to release the accused person on bond as police were still carrying out investigations to arrest his accomplices.
The case will proceed on December 24.
