Family adjourns burial after body goes missing
23 July 2014, 12:30
Nyeri - A family in Nyeri Central district was Tuesday forced to adjourn a funeral service of their kin after the body went missing from the mortuary.
According to sources, the body was preserved at Tumutumu mission hospital morgue in Mathira west sub-county.
The burial was scheduled for Tuesday, having completed all plans of laying to rest the body of the deceased.
However, on arrival at the mortuary, the family could not trace their kin’s body, leading to a heated argument between the family members and the morgue attendants.
The relatives protested outside the morgue demanding for the body.
"The body could have been taken for burial by another family this(Tuesday) morning," said a source who did not want to be mentioned, adding that it might have been a case of mistaken identity.
