FIDA want Bahati MP recalled
20 August 2013, 11:08
The Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) has condemned last week's incident where the Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri assaulted a policewoman, and called on the constituents to recall the legislator.
In a press statement circulated to media on Tuesday, the National chairperson Ruth Aura said that the actions of the legislator were reckless and that it was unbecoming for someone who legislates the laws to engage in such acts.
The MP has since been charged in court and released on bond by a Nakuru Court.
Aura said legislators should be in the forefront of maintaining law and order instead of breaking the same laws.
"With such kind of behaviours by the MPs, the constituents should use the recall clause in the Constititution to punish the errant legislator," she said.
