Nakuru - Eight Suspects from Nessuit ward in Njoro constituency were arrested on Tuesday evening in connection with the crime wave that has hit the area for the last two weeks.
According to Njoro police boss, Ochoro Okadie, the eight were arrested following a tip off from the members of the public.
“I am sure this will help reduce cases of insecurity in this area,” he said.
Okadie said that for the last two weeks, a gang of thugs has been terrorising residents of Nessuit area, where they especially target farmers who sell green maize and potatoes.
He said that they suspect the eight could have been behind the three attacks witnessed in the area early this week.
“There has been a public outcry and we have reasons to believe these culprits are behind attacks that took place early this week,” he said.
He said that they have been accorded cooperation by members of the public and as a result, they have managed to reduce crime compared to previous months.
The local residents of Nessuits however called on the government to increase security personnel in the area to deal with cases of insecurity.
They said that despite being a densely populated area, the ward is only served by a single administration police camp which has two officers.
