Nyeri - Eight people have died following a road accident involving three lorries at Kangocho area along Sagana-Karatina road.
According Kirinyaga Police Commander, Rono Bunei, seven people died on the spot while one succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment at Jamii Hospital in Karatina town.
Bunei said one of the lorries that was ferrying more than 100 goats from Moyale to Nairobi lost control after its brakes failed.
“One lorry lost control after it's front tyre burst and brakes failed, ramming into two other lorries that were travelling from Nairobi. One lorry was carrying building stones while the other was carrying horticultural farm produce,” said Bunei while addressing media at the scene of the accident.

Area residents jammed the scene of the accident Friday morning and looted the vehicles with some making away with dead goats to their homes.
One man was spotted slaughtering the goats with a panga.
Bunei said the bodies were removed to Murang’a Hospital Mortuary while the lorries were towed to Karatina Police station.
