Bondo - An elderly woman openly wailed in a Bondo court and asked the court to have mercy on her after the magistrate ordered her to produce her daughter in-law or pay a KES100,000 fine for failing to do so which means she will have to forfeit her land.
Gaudencia Aoko Ajola, 70,was summoned to appear in court after her daughter in-law Dolphine Atieno Omondi whom she helped secure a bond disappeared and failed to appear in court after she was found in possession of bhang and illicit liquor at Awelo market in Bondo town in April this year.
The elderly widow who hails from Manyonge village in Ajigo sub-location of Bondo district could not hold back her tears when she heard that she either pays KES100,000 or her land would be sold if she does not produce the accused within 14 days.
She pleaded with the court to have the husband to the accused arrested since he knew the whereabouts of his wife but Mutua maintained that the law had to be followed to the letter.
