Nakuru - Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua has pledged to push the national government to construct a dual carriageway all the way from Nairobi through Nakuru to Eldoret in a bid to reduce loss of lives through road carnage.
Addressing a prayer memorial service for the 12 people who perished at the Sachang’wan accident in Nyathuna primary school of Nakuru North sub- County, Kinuthia regretted loss of lives owing to road carnage.
“We are happy that the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) chairman, Lee Kinyanjui plans to come up with a dual highway at the Sachang’wan area, but we also propose the creation of the same from Nairobi to Eldoret as well as a by-pass at Salgaa,” said governor Kinuthia.
His sentiments were echoed by Nakuru County Senator James Mungai, who on his part said the project ought to have been done a long time ago, adding that so many lives have been lost through road carnage in the black spots along the Maai Mahiu-Nakuru highway.
The government supported preparations for the burial of the Sachang'wan casualties and pledged financial help to children and families of those who perished in the grisly accident.
