Nyeri - A man was Wednesday sentenced to one year in prison by a Nyeri court for selling bhang.
Geofrey Kinoti Muriuki was convicted by Nyeri resident magistrate Catherine Mburu who said the prosecution had proved the case beyond doubts.
Muriuki was faced with charges of possessing bhang on March 5, 2014 at Chaka market.
He had however denied the charges.
A witness, police constable Vincent Mogere told the court that the convict was arrested along Nyeri-Nanyuki road and upon search he was found with 141 grams of bhang.
He was escorted to Kiganjo police station.
A report from government analyst, which the prosecution produced as evidence, indicated that the substance recovered from him was bhang.
