Kericho - Over 20 drivers and conductors were arraigned in a Nandi court for flouting traffic laws following a crackdown conducted along the Nandi - Awasi highway.
According to Nandi Hills OCPD Patrick Macharia, the crackdown was occasioned by reports that most PSV vehicles plying various routes in the county did not adhere to the traffic rules.
Speaking when he led the crackdown, Macharia urged travelers to avoid boarding overloaded vehicles in order to support the police in restoring sanity on the roads.
The OCPD cautioned police officers against receiving bribes and further disclosed that a stakeholders meeting will be convened in order to seek ways of stemming accidents which have reportedly escalated in the region in the recent past.
“We are optimistic that the meeting will come up with strategies of restoring sanity and curbing accidents on our roads,” said Macharia.
