Nanyuki - A Nanyuki court has released on bond a lorry driver who allegedly caused a road accident that killed two Norwegian students and their driver.
Peter Waruinge King’ori was granted a bond of KES 1 million with a surety of similar amount by resident magistrate Jessee Nyaga after he denied the charges.
He is charged that on February 22, 2014 at Equator point, along Nanyuki - Nyeri Road, he failed to comply with traffic regulations and caused deaths of three people through dangerous driving.
The court heard that the accused person failed to keep sufficient distance and in the process lost control over the lorry and collided with an oncoming vehicle.
The two tourists, Jerbalde Mia and Simeom Engeland, alongside their driver, Joseph Wambugu Murigu, who were travelling to Nanyuki died on the spot.
The case will be mentioned on March 10, 2014 while the hearing will be May 5, 2014.
