Don't worry Nairobi, Obama will leave in three days time

23 July 2015, 09:29 Victor Tinto

Nairobi - Nairobi is bracing itself for a chaotic weekend with the arrival of US President Barack Obama but it will only take three days.. Only.

A number of major roads in Nairobi will be closed Friday ahead of Obama's visit to the country.

Obama arrives Friday 24 July between 7 PM to 9 PM but it has been announced that major roads leading to the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport JKIA will be closed far earlier as a result.

Among the roads to be closed include Mombasa Road, Uhuru Highway and Waiyaki Way on Friday from 2 PM to 9 PM.

Thika Road, Limuru Road and Waiyaki Way will also be closed on Saturday when the president will be attending the Global Entrepreneurship Summit at the UN headquarters in Gigiri, Kibue said.

Que chaos.

That sad, Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero is optimistic that despite the suffering set to be seen, Nairobians will understand the prevailing circumstances.

" We have prepared a long time for this visit and so we are confident it will be a big success," he said Wednesday in Nairobi during the official opening of the Global Entrepreneurship Summit GES.

" It will be tough but it is only three days for us and we will benefit far more than we can equate to the three days," he added.

Little consolation for city residents who will suffer madly with the closure of roads.

" We need to  be patient and to persevere through this period as we welcome guests who will change this country for the better. I urge residents to be cooperative,".
