Nairobi - Police officers in Nakuru county reporting on duty under the influence of alcohol have been warned of punitive disciplinary measures.
Speaking in Naivasha, Nakuru County Commissioner, Joshua Nkanatha noted that as law enforcers, there is need to set an example to the locals.
He called on residents to volunteer information about such rouge officers to help streamline the force.
"Drinking is leisure and mixing leisure time and work time is totally unprofessional and unacceptable in the police force," he warned.
Nkanatha who is the incoming County Commssioner after recent senior police officers reshuffle by the National Police Service Commission (NPSC) has vowed to bring sanity and order within the ranks in Nakuru.
“These incidences of police officers being caught on camera drunk while on duty must come to an end and all officers must be warned that such behavior will not be tolerated. If you have to drink then do it outside working hours,” he said.
