Don't be jealous, Nyachae says on parastatal appointments

Nairobi - Constitution Implementation Commision CIC chairman Charles Nyachae says that 5 of his family members appointed to public positions are there on merit.
The CIC boss says that those critiquing the employment to key public service posts of five Nyachae family members are up to mischief.
He argues that the appointments are all above board and that anyone suggesting otherwise is looking for trouble.
" You can look for their qualifications. They are there. They are all highly skilled individuals and that is what matters, he said in Nairobi Thursday.
" The clamour has been for the president to appoint persons who are capable in public positions. He has done so and should be applauded for his actions, he added.
He however admitted that having all five appointed at the same time opened room for suspicion.
" I understand that they have all been appointed at the same time and people will ask questions, but they are qualified," he added.
Nyachae's sister Judy was appointed to the Export Processing Zone board, his brother Kenneth to the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority board and his cousins Niece Violet Omwamba; Lake Victoria South Water Services board, Christopher Ayienda; Kenya Co-operative Creameries Limited board and Samwel Nyanchama; Energy Regulatory Commission boards respectively.
According to political analysts, the move by the president is to ensure that he lands votes in the key Gusii region of which the Nyachae's are very influential come the 2017 elections.
" The president has secured Nyachae's support come 2017 and that is
reward for Nyachae for the support during the 2013 elections after he
went against the wishes of most Gusii people," Bosibori Onyancha, a
Kisii based political scientist says.
" The five appointments will
raise eyebrows but those within the Nyachae axis will definitely
support Uhuru come 2017 and that matters alot, he adds.
The Nyachae household is led by former cabinet minister Simeon Nyachae,
the current Ford People chairman, whose support in the 2013 elections helped bridge
the gap between president Kenyatta and CORD leader Raila Odinga in Gusii
