Over 50 leaders from Mukurwe-ini constituency have defected from other political parties and joined TNA party.
The leaders led by area parliamentary aspirant Dick Wathika have now officially joined The National Alliance Party.
Others included the Nyeri County Council deputy chairman Peter Maina Njoka and over ten sitting and former councilors who joined the party yesterday.
They said this is the party to watch ahead of the general elections as it has a national outlook.
Wathika who has since opened the TNA office in Mukurwe-ini town said they have so far registered over 10,000 members and is sure to hit the target of 40,000 members from the constituency.
“We believe we can deliver the votes of TNA from Mukurwe-ini to the presidential flag bearer Uhuru Kenyatta. We have agreed to work with him,” he added.
Wathika appealed to other leaders to defect from other parties and join the TNA party.
Wathika who is a former assistant minister and ex - Makandara MP will face the Youth assistant Minister Kabando wa Kabando who is also the local MP during the TNA nominations.
Kabando recently decamped from UDF party to TNA party.
Wathika defected from Grand National Union party with other councilors who were in GNU and PNU parties.
