Kisumu - A section of Kisumu County religious leaders have challenged the local residents to remain vigilant through getting involved in the County’s management and work hard towards facilitating the County’s development.
Speaking on behalf of the leaders, Bishop John Ober of Church of God of Prophecy asked the residents to embark on serious work and stop bickering which may jeopardize the County’s progress.
The leaders appreciated Governor Jack Ranguma’s efforts in research and documentation of the County’s situation and urged him to settle down to implement it for the benefit of the residents.
They hailed the governor for identifying seasoned professionals to form part of the County’s first Executive Committee but challenged him to allow the team to be subjected to vetting without undue influence adding that this will allow the residents to get the best committee.
The clerics at the same time challenged the County Assembly Representatives to carry out civic education and create a platform for citizen participation within their wards to capacity build the public.
They further urged the County Assembly Representatives to exercise professionalism in the vetting process by avoiding sectarianism.
The leaders were speaking at a forum organized for prayers and deliberations on issues affecting the County at a Kisumu hotel.
