Delay on justice administration
25 May 2012, 16:06
Rift Valley region has been hit by shortage of judges leading to backlog of cases.
Currently there are only four judges serving in the four major towns of Nakuru, Naivasha, Narok and Nyahururu.
Rift valley law society of Kenya chairman Kipngetich Koech said there is need for Chief Justice Willy Mutunga to hasten deployment of judges in the area.
“Four judges serving the entire region are not enough we want the CJ to deploy more judges so that delay in matters of urgency can be stopped,” he asserted.
Koech made the remarks in Nakuru noting that the issue of backlog cases caused by shortage of judges should be quickly addressed.
He said if matters of urgency are not addressed justice will lag behind.
“We want cases of backlog to be reduced in the region as well as addressing the issue of matter of urgency to avoid lagging justice administration,” he noted.
