Death toll in Nandi illicit brew consumption rises

Nandi - The death toll from Nandi illicit brew consumption has risen to eight after another victim died Friday morning while undergoing treatment.
Kapsabet County Referral Hospital Medical Superintendent, Francis Maiyo said 17 other victims are recuperating at the hospital’s intensive care unit.
Addressing to the press, he appealed those who took the beer to go for urgent treatment irrespective of the quantity consumed.
“The liquor is highly poisonous and I am appealing to whoever took it to come forward for treatment,” said the medical Superintendent.
Among those who perished after taking the liquor believed to have been imported from Uganda include an assistant chief and a teacher.
