'Dead' Moody Awori is alive

28 May 2015, 14:29 Victor Tinto

Nairobi - The death of former Vice President Moody Awori had been announced on social media all week but he is alive, as was seen in his appearance on the National Prayer Breakfast stage.

Social media has been awash with rumours of the former VP's death this week, none of which were officially denounced or confirmed by his family or the government.

There was no need though as pictures of a buoyant moody Thursday at the Safari Park Hotel in Nairobi were beamed across the country and those of us lucky to be at the Breakfast got a glimpse of the classy Moody.

Of the rumours of his death, he was keen to see the light side of it.

" I am here alive and kicking to pray for more days on earth to God," he joked of the death rumours.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery also took time to launch into the rumour mongers who spread the message of his death.

" Some people sent Awori to an early grave yet he is here at Safari Park Hotel for the National Prayer breakfast. We must be responsible on such reports that go round on twitter before killing others," he said.

Awori was said to have died in his sleep in the social media reports, and is not the first government official to have been killed on social media in recent times.
