Nyeri - Police in Nyeri County have launched a manhunt for a woman who allegedly stabbed her mother to death at Kihuyo village Sunday evening.
The suspect, Benar Ndeti Njoki, 28, stabbed her disabled mother Esther Kanuri, 64, severally on the stomach, chest and neck at their living room before dragging her into her bedroom.
Nyeri OCPD, John Leshimpiro said the woman later escaped after the heinous act.
The deceased is a retired tutor of Kamwenja Teacher’s College.
The father of the daughter, Michael Kanuri said that he was away when the incident occurred.
"We had just arrived from a church service in Kiria-ini area, when I left shortly to look for cows nearby but was later called by the housemaid who informed me about the incident," said Kanuri.
The suspect had warned that she would do something extraordinary earlier in the day.
Kanuri admitted that the daughter has been a difficult woman for many years and all efforts to rehabilitate her have been fruitless.
A panga and some crude weapons were recovered at the scene.
Police later removed the body to Nyeri Provincial General Hospital mortuary for postmortem.
