Rongo - Rongo MP Dalmas Otieno has revealed that his long awaited political party will be launched before 2017.
The MP, however, clarified that the party would only be unveiled after making his development record attractive to his constituents and Kenyans as a whole.
By doing this, he said, his development score card would endear voters to the party and make it popular enough to win the country’s presidency.
The embattled Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) legislator made the remarks while meeting 500 delegates from his constituency in Rongo town over the weekend.
He said the new party whose name will be centered on development agenda craves to bring on board serious development conscious Kenyans with a view to bond strong trust from the common people.
“These leaders will be required to possess charming development profiles that can attract Kenyans to believe in their potential to address biting leadership and development challenges that have dogged the country over a long time," he said.
Otieno has had trouble a section of ODM members who are loyal to the party leader Raila Odinga, thus being termed as a rebel in the party.
Together with some of the ODM legislators from Luo Nyanza, the long-time KANU stalwart politician has dared Odinga and his party to punish him for criticizing the party that sponsored him to Parliament in 2013.
He has also openly rooted for the formation of many political parties to rival the ODM in the region, making him being associated with a much talked-yet-to be availed party, ‘Kalausi’.

But speaking to the visibly enthusiastic delegates at Uganda Martyrs College, Otieno said he will not turn sycophant in order to bring development to his constituents.
He said there were several existing projects and more to be initiated that were still dragging in their implementations stage and which he must now pursue with vigour before he comes up with a smart political party aimed at transforming people’s lives.
For the last seven years, Otieno has influenced the birth of Rongo College in his constituency, besides having a hand in up grading of two other technical training institutions in Migori County into national polytechnics.
A sugar factory and a county agricultural training centre at Miyare in Rongo Sub-County are also some of the numerous vibrant projects associated with his name.
Recently, he announced that he would not vie for the Rongo parliamentary seat but will go for a higher seat, which political pundits in the area are guessing to be that of senate or gubernatorial.
