Bungoma - A middle-aged man from Sitikho village in Bungoma East sub-county is being held at Webuye police station for beating his son to death for loosing KES 40.
Confirming the incident, Sitikho sub-location assistant Chief, Charles Masibo said that the suspect was angry after the boy lost the money he had given him to buy maize flour for supper.
“The suspect is alleged to have sent his son to buy the maize flour and left for other chores but when he returned in the evening, he found his family eating sweet potatoes for supper. When he asked why they were not eating Ugali, his wife told him that their son had lost the money on the way. That is when the father grabbed his son and beat him senselessly leaving him for dead,” said Masibo.
He said the class four pupil at a local primary school succumbed on the way to hospital.

The Saturday evening incident left relatives and neighbours wondering what could have led the suspect to beat his fourth-born to death.
Masibo noted that it was not the first time the suspect beat his children, saying the deceased's elder brother was also once beaten senseless and the case reported to his office.
“Cases of the suspect instilling corporal punishment is very rampant but this time he went overboard by killing his own son; he will be charged with murder,” said Masibo.
The body of the deceased was taken to Webuye district hospital mortuary as they await the postmortem report to be tabled very soon.
