DPP releases persons arrested in Langata land protest

Nairobi - Four persons arrested in protests over the grabbing of a playground in Nairobi have been released.
The four were released by Director of Public Prosecutions Keriako Tobiko who has asked to be availed with the respective files of the four in-order to look at the case afresh.
Tobiko says that there is no need to hold the four in custody in the meantime and in case there will be charges prompted against them, they will be asked to avail themselves in court.
The four were arrested for what police termed as indecent behaviour Monday during the protest over the grabbed playground belonging to Langata Road Primary School.
They had been placed in custody at the Langata Police Station.
In the incident Monday, teargas was fired at protestors, who included school children.
Langata Police OCPD Elijah Mwangi has been suspended over the incident which has been condemned across board, including by president Uhuru Kenyatta.
