Nairobi – The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Keriako Tobiko has ordered police officers to swiftly complete investigations into a Nairobi “doctor” linked to rape of patients.
Tobiko said his office has been informed about the ongoing investigations into the Githurai-based gynecologist, Mugo wa Wairimu who has reportedly been raping women seeking gynecology services after injecting them with some sedative.
“You are hereby directed by the DPP to have the said investigations completed speedily and expeditiously and the file forwarded for perusal and directions,” Tobiko asked responsible police officers.
He added that his office like the public received information of Mugo’s sexual abuse to women seeking gynecological services at his Prestige HealthCare clinic from Citizen TV’s Sunday evening bulletin, and said his office is committed to ensure the suspect is brought to justice despite being at large.
The TV’s video broadcast which was also uploaded on YouTube showed a naked woman lying on the doctor’s examination table and a man, allegedly Mugo undressing her before climbing onto it and raping her while she is unconscious.
The police spokesman, George Kinoti has directed the Kasarani police commander to trace and arrest Mugo.
Angry Githurai and Zimmerman residents on Monday threatened to set Mugo’s clinic ablaze but their plans thwarted as armed police camped at the facility the whole day to ensure it’s not destroyed to help in carrying out investigations.
Many victims of rape at the clinic have come out following the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) chairman, Eric Mutua’s plea to assist with evidence in Mugo’s case.
