DPP orders arrest of MCA who impregnated schoolgirl
07 October 2014, 08:36
Bumula - The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has ordered the arrest of Bumula ward MCA, Henry Nyongesa, who is accused of impregnating a schoolgirl and later helping her to procure an abortion.
In letter written to Bungoma County CID commandant and seen by News24, the DPP argues that there was overwhelming evidence to charge Nyongesa for defilement and helping the victim to procure an abortion.
Nyongesa had earlier escaped justice after allegedly bribing the police.

This comes after rights groups launched complaints at the DPP's office accusing Bungoma police of failing to arrest Nyongesa who was responsible for the pregnancy while charging the girl with illegally procuring an abortion.
However, the girl who is a Form Two student at Lumboka Secondary School denied the charges before a Bungoma court.
