Nairobi - The High Court has stopped Police from arresting former Nairobi Mayor George Aladwa over incitement and hate speech charges.
This follows a move by Aladwa to contest initial charges against him levelled by Police and the Director of Public Prosecutions over utterances made in Kibera last week insinuating violence in the 2017 General Elections.
Aladwa was arrested last week over comments he made in Kibera where he stated that there would be blood and tears if CORD leader Raila Odinga does not win the 2017 polls.
He was released on a KES 20,000 bond.
Tuesday in Nairobi, High Court judges allowed him to stay free in the meantime until his appeal is determined and sorted out.
The High Court also stopped Police from arresting Aladwa as they continue with investigations over the matter.
He was also ordered to file his appeal to the relevant parties and that they in turn get back to the court over the matter within 14 days.
