Bungoma - A Bungoma court on Tuesday sentenced six people to death after they were found guilty of robbery with violence acts they jointly committed last year.
The six, Constant Wafula ,David Masinde, John Masindani,Samuel , Nyaranga Patric Wafula and Calistus Wafula allegedly hacked Mrs. Rukia Naskanda in Lunao Village in Bumula Sub-County in April last and stole KES 5,000 from her Mpesa account.
The group asked her for her mobile pin number and emptied her account after it emerged that she had no cash, while threatening that they had been sent to eliminate her for failing to employ locals in her farm.
Bungoma Resident Magistrate Peter Ireri ruled that the prosecution had proved beyond any reasonable doubt that the accused were culpable.
Five witnesses appeared before the court and testified against the accused.
“This sentence should serve as a deterrent to the marauding gangs terrorizing and maiming with machetes innocent residents of the county,” said Ireri, in his judgment.
