Court rules Shollei was wrongfully dismissed

Nairobi - The Industrial court has ordered the Judicial Service Commission to compensate former judiciary registrar Gladys Shollei for wrongful dismissal.
Justice Nduma Nderi said Friday that the decision by the JSC to sack Shollei was wrong as it did not use the required mechanisms to investigate and prosecute the former registrar.
" It is clear that the respondent was unfairly treated and her removal from office was irregular, he ruled.
Shollei was sacked in October 2013 on allegations
of abuse of office and the wrongful use of KES 2 billion which belonged to the Judiciary.
Her plea in court centered on the fact that she was dismissed by a body that does not have the power to execute such a move.
Justice Nderi also ordered that the JSC compensate Shollei in full for her dismissal and that an amicable settlement be arrived at by both sets of lawyers.
Shollei has since been replaced by Anne Amadi.
