Murder, robbery suspects released

A Nyeri magistrate court has released two brothers who are facing charges of robbery with violence and murder on a bond term of KES 1.5 million each.
John Njanjo and Lazarus King’ori were charged that on the night of June 9 and 10, 2013 at Narumoru township within Nyeri County, jointly with others not before court, they robbed Charles Kagumba of his Techno phone valued at KES 1 899.
Before Chief Magistrate Wilbroadah Juma, the suspects were also alleged to have killed the victim in the course of robbery using dangerous weapons which the court prosecutor Catherine Wambua said are not yet known.
However, the duo denied the charges and their case was adjourned to August 20.
In the same court, a middle aged man facing similar charges of robbing another of a mobile phone and cash was also released on bond of KES 500 000 and a surety of similar amount.
Ephantus Gakindu was accused of robbing Peter Mugambi of KES 3 400 and a mobile phone worth KES 8 000 on April 29 at Kangemi area in Nyeri town.
He pleaded not guilty to the charges and the case was slated to proceed on August 5, 2013.
