Court orders Uhuru to fasttrack KNHCR appointments
21 January 2014, 18:27
Nairobi - The High court has ordered the executive to produce the names of appointees to senior positions at the Kenya National Human Rights Commision KNHCR.
Judge Isaac Lenaola ordered president Uhuru Kenyatta to produce the names of four appointees to the KNHCR board in 21 days for vetting my parliament.
He said that it was wrong for the executive to strong arm their way into picking up and re-constituting the selection panel and seeking new applications for the posts.
The posts in question are that of the chairman and four other members who would fill up the boardroom positions.
The issue has been pending since the terms of the previous chair and board members expired last year, with the president looking to have his way on the mode and selection process of the individuals.
