Court dismisses petition against Kacheliba MP
18 July 2013, 18:03
Kitale high court on Thursday morning dismissed a petition against the Kacheliba MP Mark Lomunokol.
Giving the verdict, Judge J.R Karanja dismissed the petition filed by John Lodinyo saying that Mark won by a big margin consequently rendering the evidence by the petitioner null and void.
“The petitioner was defeated by many votes and that means that there was no chance of him clinching the seat after recounting. Thus, his request could not be granted,” he said.
Karanja added that the irregularities mentioned by the petitioner were of no importance or substantial to change the final number of votes garnered by the two candidates.
He further said that the irregularities were witnessed across the board and did not favour either of the candidates.
After the verdict, Lomunokol called upon other losers and winners to join hands and develop Kacheliba constituency for the betterment of the electorates.
