County surveyor charged with theft

Embu - An official of the Embu County government has been charged with theft.
Beth Wanjiru, a surveyor attached to the County government is accused of stealing from the Embu government by running a syndicate of ghost workers, including an executive position.
Wanjiru appeared before Embu Chief Magistrate Alfred Kabiru, where she was charged that on diverse dates between January 1, 2014 and January 31, 2015 in Embu town jointly with others not before court she stole KES 349 932 from the County government.
She denied the charges and was released on KES 200 000 bond and surety of similar amount or cash bail of KES 100 000.
The case will be heard on March 30 with a mention on February 20.
