Vihiga - A county representative in Vihiga County fears for his life after being attacked and robbed at gunpoint twice, this year.
Nathan Kamidi, who is a nominated county representative and United Democratic Front (UDF) secretary general, was recently trailed by armed men who harassed him at home in Riat before robbing him of several valuables around 9pm.
“When I alighted from my car to close the gate, I saw a group of six men whom I couldn’t recognise and two of whom were armed with rifles coming towards me. They asked me to surrender my car keys, money and any other thing that I had,”Kamidi said.
He said that the men searched his house, which fortunately had no family member inside as it is still under construction, but couldn’t find any other thing to take.
They however took his laptop, a camera, and phone and rode away in his car which was recovered at Nyamasaria by the police from Kisumu later in the night.
Kamidi says that in the recent past, he has received verbal threats from different individuals who have been promising to teach him a lesson because of not bending to some maxims.
“Earlier in February, I was attacked by armed men, but fortunately I escaped unscathed. This time again, I have been attacked and nearly killed but fortunately I also escaped although with injuries,”he said.
He however reiterated that he was not going to be intimated by the persons who are baying for his blood because of not towing the line.
He was saved by his wits and the knowledge of the compound which had been plunged into darkness by the robbers when he ran away after being constrained in the car boot, while the men searched the house.
He reported the incident at Riat Police station where investigations are underway to arrest the suspects.
