County executives, MCAs to start paying parking fees
04 September 2015, 09:32
Nakuru - Nakuru County executives and MCAs will no longer enjoy free parking following a directive from County Secretary, Joseph Motari that they should start paying to park their private vehicles in all the 11 sub-counties.
This directive scraps the use of privileged County access stickers restricted to the officials.
“All County workers who own vehicles must pay parking fees when they use slots reserved for public use,” Motari said in the notice.
This will earn the County between KES 600 000 and KES 900 000 monthly currently lost due to free access to the chargeable spaces in the central business districts.

Motari said the move is meant to raise revenue for the County, warning that vehicles of those who do not comply will be clamped and towed away, attracting a fine of KES 5 000.
All County revenue officials have been instructed to enforce the directive immediately.
Motorists part with KES 100 for parking small cars and mini-lorries in Nakuru town.
