Concerns raised over circulation of fake bursary forms

Kericho - Alarm has been raised over the circulation of fake bursary forms in Kericho.
The county education committee chairman, Cheruiyot Bett says some individuals have been soliciting funds from residents in the pretext that they can help them access the bursary.
According to Bett, the forms distributed by the individuals have the county government and the ministry of education letterheads.
"It has come to our attention that some individuals have been circulating fake bursary forms with the intention to solicit funds from members of the public. Investigations have been launched and the victims will soon be arrested," he noted.
Addressing the press, he warned that those caught will be prosecuted, and called on the members of public to be wary of such people and report to the police any such incident.
He further disclosed that the county government has allocated KES 69 million for bursary that will be released soon.
"Kericho county government has set aside KES 69 million for bursaries this financial year and as a committee, we give the assurance that disbursement will be done in a free and transparent manner," assured Bett.
