Nairobi - A night guard of a coffee factory in Othaya, Nyeri County was killed in cold blood last night by armed thugs.
Peter Nderitu, who was guarding Gatugi Coffee Factory, was hacked to death by the said robbers who did not steal anything from the factory.
The gang while armed with crude weapons had ordered the deceased to lie down and tied his hands with ropes before killing him, according to Othaya Coffee Cooperative Society chairman James Gathua.
Gathua said another guard managed to escape and raised alarm prompting neighbours to respond.
“The thugs wanted to steal coffee but their mission was thwarted by the public who responded to an alarm raised by one of the thugs. Police have started investigating the matter,” said the chairman.
The body has been moved to Mukurwe-ini District hospital mortuary.
