Coast politicians told to shun Balala's party

Mombasa - The Kenya Muslims National Advisory Council (Kemnac) has dismissed Cabinet secretary Najib Balala offer to give out his Republican Congress party to the Coast Region, saying the party failed in last year's polls.
Speaking to the press, Kemnac chairman Sheikh Juma Ngao said although they welcomed the offer presented by Balala, the people of Mombasa are not ready to support the party, since it does not have representation in any elected posts in the country.
“Republican party did not win any single seat in elections in any part of this country that shows it’s not the preferred party for the people of Mombasa,” said Ngao.
Kemnac boss urged coast political leaders to unite and form a party that has a national face and will push the agenda of people living in the region and not to depend on parties which have been formed by individuals who might have their own agendas behind it.
“Coast leaders should beware of such parties that am to destroy the unity of the coast region and form a party that will unite all the people within and outside Mombasa region,” said Ngao.
The move follows the recent proposal by coast legislatures to form a new party that they will use to push the agendas of the coast people in 2017 election.
