A clinical officer who sexually abused a patient who had sought his help to procure an abortion at a private health center in Nyando has been charged with the offense.
David Wakenga Okoth appeared before Nyando Principal Magistrate PM Wechuli to answer charges of abuse of position of authority contrary to Section 24 (3) of the Sexual Offences Act No 3 of 2006.
The court heard that on February 3 this year at Annex Health Center, Okoth took advantage of his position as a clinical officer in the hospital to have sexual intercourse with a patient at the facility.
The victim, a resident of Ahero, had gone to the health centre to procure an abortion.
It is in the process of ‘medication’ the clinical officer locked her in one of the rooms and sexually molested her.
Magistrate Wechuli ordered that the accused be released on a bond of KES 50 000 after he denied the charges.
The case was adjourned for police to complete investigations.
