Nyeri - Bishops and pastors from Nyeri County have expressed dissatisfaction with the mass actions planned by Cord leaders and advised Kenyans not to take part in any mass action or anything that can cause chaos in the country.
Speaking during a press conference in Nyeri town Wednesday, the chair of Nyeri County Fellowship of Bishops Group, Bishop Erastus Njoroge said, “We strongly oppose any kind of statement that would affect the people of our country. We saw the effects of mass action in the year 2007 – 2008. There was a lot of bloodshed of innocent Kenyans and we would not like to see it happen again.”
He noted that some political leaders who call for mass actions are never affected by the chaos that erupt, adding that it is only poor Kenyans who suffer.
Njoroge added that the political leaders should look for other ways of solving challenges facing the country instead of misleading Kenyans.
“It happened also in Southern Sudan and we would not like the same to happen in Kenya. That is why we are advising Kenyans not to participate in any mass action,” the bishop added.
