Nakuru - A class four girl who had been missing for days was on Monday found raped and murdered at Nyakinywa village in Kuresoi North constituency.
The villagers who had been searching for the girl were surprised to find her half - naked body dumped in a thicket near a maize plantation.
The mother of the child, Leah Wanjiru, who was emotionally stirred at the scene of incident, said that her family has always been in good terms with all their neighbours, questioning the motive behind the killing of her daughter.
Nyanda Primary School headmistress, Wangui Njoroge, termed the pupil as bright, disciplined and obedient saying the murder had deprived the school an important asset.
“We are very shocked by this incident and that’s why we want the government to enforce security in this area because our children are not safe when going back home,” said the headmistress.
Kuresoi District Education Officer, Sylvester Musikoyo, condemned the killing saying there is growing worry that school children are no longer safe.
He said this was the second incident in the division after another pupil was gang raped and killed by unknown assailant last year.
“Something must be done for the sake of children,” he said.
The government has so far been urged to take stern actions on adults violating children right.
