Class 7 pupil burns dormitory over girlfriend

Homa Bay - Police in Oyugis town, Homa Bay County are holding a standard seven pupil who allegedly confessed that he torched a school dormitory because he wanted to go home to see his girlfriend.
The minor made the shocking confession and revealed that he paid four fellow pupils KES 400 so they could help him to burn down the dormitory at Oyugis Highland Academy.
Property worth millions of shillings was destroyed in the incident that razed down the 80-bed capacity dormitory on Saturday night. 50 pupils were residing in the hostel according to the school proprietor, Boaz Orwaru.

“We interviewed the pupil and he admitted that he was the mastermind of the fire incident. He confessed that he paid his classmates KES 400 to set the dormitories on fire in order to compel school management to close it,” Orwaru told journalists.
“The pupil, who was admitted to this school early this year, told us that he wanted the school closed so as to get time to go see his girlfriend, a pupil at Komarock Academy in Nairobi,” he said, and added that no pupil was injured in the incident.
Rachuonyo South OCPD, Patrick Onsando who confirmed the incident told journalists that he will give the full details once he is briefed and investigations over the matter are completed.
