Nairobi - A bar in Nairobi's City Centre which was in the news this week for allowing 200 minors to drink alcohol has been closed.
Jerry City Hotel and Bar has been closed and its license revoked and will no longer operate, Nairobi County officials have said.
" We have closed it with immediate effect. It is a serious offence to sell alcohol to minors and they know so," County Liquor Licensing official Robinson Shimoli told News24.
The minors, some less than 10 years old were found in the bar in possession of alcohol, bhang and condoms on Tuesday, which is also Mashujaa Day in Kenya.
The attendants were also arrested for selling alcohol to minors.
" We are putting bar owners on notice to ensure that they sell to the right and required people," he added.
Last week, some 500 minors were arrested in an Eldoret bar also engaging in alcohol and substance abuse.
