Mombasa - A few days after a church was attacked by terrorists at Likoni district Mombasa County, security department has stepped up on a Church and Mosque clustering exercise aimed to intensify and provide security in worshiping areas.
In a security meeting with Mombasa county chiefs convened by Mombasa county commissioner Nelson Marwa they agreed to register all churches and mosques within a particular area which will be manned by state security officers.
The move according to Marwa is a security strategy and which comes as police conduct a criminal operation in Nairobi to fish out criminals in the area.
Marwa warned that the move will not only provide security to worshipers, but also to identify criminals within the particular areas. He said security officers will not sit and watch criminals terrorize innocent Kenyans.
“We have clustered Mosques and churches in all parts of this county, we want to provide security all people in this county, said Marwa.
However the commissioner has assured tourists and visitors touring the coast for the Easter holiday that security has been beefed up.”We are going to fight crime head on. We will deal with him or her forcefully,"warned Marwa.
He added that the county has strategized on its own ways of conduction operations that will effectively root out criminals. He said the same police operations conducted in Eastleigh will not be conducted in Mombasa instead the county will embark on the Nyumba kumi initiative that will easily identify criminals.
