Child's body found in Mandera bus flooding accident

Nairobi - The body of a child was recovered as the rescue efforts to recover those missing in the Mandera bus flooding incident continued.
The body was recovered along river Gadudia to bring the total of persons dead in the incident to 5.
on Thursday, 3 people were confirmed dead with 4 still missing after the passenger bus was swept away by floods in Mandera. 4 people are missing and 42 others have been rescued.
The bus was carrying 50 people at the time of the incident which took place Thursday morning.

crossed a seasonal river at Gadudia. and was then swept by floods
together with its passengers.
" We have five confirmed
casualties. We collected two bodies including that of a child. We have been able to rescue 42 and we are hopefully going to
find some more. There are four people that are missing for now," Red
Cross Ahmed Mohammed
told News24 on phone.
Mandera County Commissioner Alex ole Nkoyo Thursday told News24, also on phone that the bus companies had been warned of
taking the trip to Nairobi because of the prevailing weather conditions.
" This was the only bus travelling on the route. The others did not travel because they feared the weather, he said.
" We hope that we are able to save as many as possible but there is the possibility of multiple casualties, he added.
