Children tie their father with ropes, beat him up

20 August 2015, 12:13 Godfrey Olukya

Kampala - A man in Bugembe township, eastern Uganda is nursing wounds after his five children aged between 10 and 22 tied him with ropes before giving him a serious thrashing for continuously molesting them and their mother.

Festo Mulondo of Bugembe township in the eastern Uganda district of Jinja is nursing wounds after being beaten up by his 5 children aged 10 to 22.

According to one of the children, 20-year-old James Mbalwa, their father Festo Mulondo had made it a habit to go out drinking in the evenings after which he would beat up their mother and the children.

''Last night, we were annoyed when he seriously beat our mother and sent her out of the house at around 1.00 am. We collectively held him and tied him with ropes before beating him up seriously,'' said Mbalwa.

When he could no longer take the beating, Mulondo cried out for help. Some neighbors ran to the scene but instead of helping him, they joined the children in beating him up.

''We are tired of his beating the wife and children every day. That is why we joined the children in punishing him,'' said one of the neighbors, Dennis Ntwatwa.

After beating him, the children left him tied till Thursday morning when they untied him. But he was swollen allover his body and some sympathizers took him to hospital where he has been admitted.
