Twenty child-headed households from extremely poor families in Nyando District are set to benefit from a raft of support from the government.
The support will include; bedding, utensils and sanitary towels.
Nyando District Children Officer Jermine K'onyango disclosed that the families set to benefit have been carefully selected from Wawidhi, Kakola, Kochogo, Ombeyi and North East Kano locations.
These are some of the areas which were incidentally hit hardest by the recent flush floods.
K'onyango disclosed that local Chiefs have been instrumental in the identification of the most vulnerable families worthy of the support.
The child-headed families will also be provided with sandals, bed sheets, sufurias, mattresses, cups and plates.
However, the children officer confided that 6 of the families out of the 20 are headed by grandmothers, adding that school head teachers have also been involved in the rolling out the program since they know the children who come from the vulnerable families.
