Narok - A chief who forcefully circumcised his two daughters has been arraigned in a Narok Court.
Lekishon Muriaso appeared before magistrate Zainab Abdul charged with aiding the circumcision of his daughters, allowing the activities to take place in his home and failing to report the matter.
The court prosecutor, Evans Gitonga termed the matter as weighty and called for its urgent conclusion.
“This is a weighty matter as it violates the rights of the girls as enshrined in the constitution of Kenya. I hereby urge this court to speedily conclude the matter considering also that the two are pupils and schools are about to reopen,” requested the prosecutor.
Lawyer Martin Ole Kamwaro, representing the accused, requested the court to be lenient on his client, a request that was granted and the chief released on a bond of KES 100 000 or a surety of KES 50 000.
The two girls are currently recuperating at a Rescue Centre in the area while the case was set to be mentioned on May 12, 2014.
