Central MPs assure Ruto of support over ICC cases

16 September 2013, 11:28 Joseph Njung'eh

Nyeri - A group of parliamentarians from Central Kenya have assured Deputy President William Ruto of their support and prayers ahead of the ICC cases.

Led by Nyeri Governor, Nderitu Gachagua, MP Priscilla Nyokabi (Nyeri), Kabado wa Kabado (Mukurwe-ini), Ndung’u Githinji (Tetu), Njogu Barua (Gichugu) among others said the Mount Kenya region is in solidarity with Ruto.

They said they have halted other duties to engage into prayers over the crimes against humanity charges facing President Uhuru and his deputy Ruto at the ICC.

Gachagua said ICC prosecutor, Fatou Bensouda, could be desperate and that was why she sought adjournment adding that the case is heading to quash.

“We will not allow ICC to be the global instrument of killing ambitions. The court is aiming to kill ambitions of President Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto,” said Gichugu MP Njogu Barua.

Njogu was applauded by members of the public when he said Ruto will be the next head of state.

“Sometimes back you said after meeting Uhuru Kenyatta you saved his mobile phone number as FP- Future President. In my phone book, I have also called you as FP because am sure you are the next President of the republic of Kenya,” said Njogu.

They added that people from Central Kenya are solidly behind the duo, exuding confidence that they will be acquitted of the charges.

They were speaking at Kabiru-ini showground in Nyeri County during the official opening of the ASK show on Friday.

Nairobi women representative Reachel Shebesh, Embakasi West MP George Theuri and Kirinyaga, Nyeri County ward representatives were also present.
